Who would think there is a such thing as color of the year? Well, I mean… why not? There’s a “BLANK of the Year” for just about everything right?

When I was in college at the FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN & MERCHANDISING (San Francisco), I was introduced to this amazing color forecasting site called “Pantone”. It features color consulting, intelligence, and systems to aid in any creation involving… you guessed it, COLOR.

So, this years’ color? (drum roll please???) ULTRA VIOLET. I have personally never been a huge fan of any color purple until I got older. I had some awkward fear of it until I realized its meaning; awareness, creativity, unconventional. I would like to think I am a little bit of each of these characteristics personally.

Pantone says, “Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.” This quote jumped off of the page at me! After having a moment of lost passion for creating, (which I will talk about in another post later) maybe a little more purple is what I need to drive it all back!
