Last Saturday I had an amazing opportunity to re-do my prom! My original prom actually wasn’t so bad to be honest. I had a great date, a beautiful dress, and gorgeous hair and make-up all at a beautiful venue on Treasure Island in San Francisco. What made it different this time was that I am an adult who could wear what I wanted, go with who I wanted, and drive myself!

This time around I decided to make my own dress! The color of choice? BOLD, FIREY, RED. Red is my favorite color, but during my years of designing, I have never made a red dress. Maybe my soul was waiting for a moment like this. The inspiration for my dress was the wedding rehearsal dress of Keyshia Ka’oir-Davis; the entrepreneur and wife of rapper, Gucci Mane. I used a yard of a beautiful sheer embroidered lace for the top, and about 40 yards of layered tulle for the skirt.

I kept my accessories simple to let the dress do the talking! My purse, shoes, and bracelet were borrowed from my Mother’s closet because she is super fancy. Thanks Mom!

The BEST part? I got to go with my best friend, Lucy which was perfect because we always have a ball together! She wore a dress that I made a few years ago which fit her perfectly. I cooked her lobster, garlic noodles, and asparagus. Oh! Can’t forget the Mumm-Napa bubbly! That’s something I couldn’t do at my original prom! LOL!

We took a pit-stop to my parent’s house to take pictures, just like old times! We took so many pictures we could hardly decide which ones to keep!

The adult prom started at 8 PM and we danced until we couldn’t dance anymore! We talked about going out after because it ended at 11 PM, but we had so much fun that all we wanted to do was sleep when we got back to my place! We are officially old ladies!

It was truly a night to remember, and we can’t wait until next year! Another custom gown is officially in the works.

I felt like a princess the entire night! Do you want the chance to wear this gown? Click the link to my SHOP to purchase it!
